美国纽约城市大学研究生中心杰出教授Michael Devitt，于2012年 5月 27 日— 6 月3 日来我系讲学，分别在5月29日和5月31日，为我系研究生和青年教师做了题为“Methodology and the Nature of Knowing How”和“Linguistic Knowledge”的学术讲座。
Michael Devitt是美国纽约城市大学研究生中心杰出教授。哈佛大学哲学博士。国际知名的分析哲学家，主要研究领域：语言哲学、心智哲学、形而上学、认识论等。代表性著作：Designation，Columbia University Press, 1981；Realism and Truth，Basil Blackwell, 1984；Coming to Our Senses: A Naturalistic Program for Semantic Localism，Cambridge University Press, 1996；Putting Metaphysics First：Essays on Metaphysics and Epistemology, Oxford University Press, 2010，等。
