报告人简介: 

Jie Zheng achieved his MS degree in Peking University and PhD in Yale University. He went to University of Washington as postdoctoral fellow. He is a professor in UC Davis. His current research focuses on the capsaicin receptor TRPV1 ion channels and its homologs.


报告内容:

Capsaicin receptor TRPV1 ion channel is a sensor for spiciness, heat, animal toxins, and other noxious stimuli, making it an attractive target for designing new analgesics. Using a combination of Rosetta structure modeling and biophysical analyses, we revealed the atomic interactions underlying ligand activation of TRPV1 by capsaicin and related vanilloids. Based on this knowledge, we designed novel vanilloids as TRPV1 agonists. We further designed de novo peptides that serve as positive allosteric modulators to regulate TRPV1’s pain-sensing properties.
