报告人简介:Dr. Chang is currently the Professor and Director of the Molecular Medicine Institute, National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) in Taiwan, and the Adjunct Professor with the SUNY Upstate Medical University and the NYS Institute for Basic Research in Developmental Disabilities, New York. Dr. Chang is most noted for his discovery of tumor suppressor WWOX in 2000. Recent Awards: Breast cancer and neurofibromatosis research awards from the Department of Defense, USA, in 2008 and 2010; NCKU Distinguished Professor Award 2010, 2013 and 2016; Distinguished Scientist Award 2011 from the Society of Experimental Biology & Medicine, USA.

报告摘要:Tumor suppressor WW domain-containing oxidoreducatase (WWOX, FOR, or WOX1) was first cloned in year 2000 by Dr. Nan-Shan Chang at the Guthrie Research Institute, Sayre, PA. WWOX gene is now a hot target of cancer research. Without functional WWOX gene, human beings can only survive less than 2 years. In his lecture, Dr. Chang will focus on the tumor suppressor function of WWOX and its role in neurodegeneration and metabolism.  You will learn: 1) the structure and function of WWOX, 2) WWOX in signaling pathways, 3) WWOX in bubbling cell death, and 4) WWOX in neurodegeneration (if time is available).
