Hubert Hondermarck is Professor of medical biochemistry. He received his PhD training from the University of Lille (France) and was a post-doc at the University of California Irvine. He has created, and directed during 10 years, a research unit at the French National Institute of Health (INSERM), before joining the University of Newcastle Australia in 2011. His current research focuses on the translational value of neurotrophic growth factors in oncology and the role of the nervous system in cancer.
报告内容摘要：
Nerve growth factor (NGF), its precursor (proNGF) and their receptors (TrkA,p75 NTR, sortilin) are primarily known for their trophic role during the development of the nervous system. Interestingly they are also expressed in various human cancers and participate in the stimulation of tum our growth and metastasis. The potential use of these molecules as biomarker of prognosis and therapeutic targets will be discussed.
