报告内容简介:

One of the main efforts at present in the study of polariton condensates in microcavities. The polaritons are essentially photons dressed with an effective mass and strong interactions due to the special design of the solid-state microcavity structures we use. These interacting photons can undergo Bose-Einstein condensation, which is a state of matter with spontaneous coherence. The talk mainly includes four parts. 1. We show the way to design the optical microcavity; 2. We show the superfluid flow of the polariton condensate over millimeter distances; we can trap the condensate in various potentials; and we can see interference due to the coherence of the condensate in GaAs quantum wells. 3. We introduce the Transition Metal Dichalcogenides (TMDs) which have attracted intense attention since from 2010 because of their novelty property. We show the strong coupling, the broadband enhancement exciton energy modifying and the potential to boost the threshold temperature of the condensation from cryogenic up to room temperature in such materials.

报告人简介:

Dr. Sun Zheng, Postdoctoral Associate working in the University of Pittsburgh in Physics and Astronomy department since from 2017 after he gained his Ph.D. from the City University of New York Graduate Center. He receives his M.A and B.S respectively from Fudan University and Zhejiang Normal University. He has been published more than 12 papers at present, three of them are in Nature Photonics and three are in Nano letters. He is also the regular peer reviewer for more than 10 different journals such as Nature Photonics, Physical Review Letters, Optica, Physical Review B, etc.
