Upmanu Lall 教授简介

Upmanu Lall教授于1981年获得美国德克萨斯大学土木工程专业博士学位，目前是美国哥伦比亚大学地球与环境工程学院的终身教授，在2003至2006年担任地球与环境工程系主任，现任哥伦比亚大学水中心主任。他担任美国国家科学院学部委员，世界经济论坛水资源短缺领域理事会委员，并参与全球风险委员会审议以及IPCC政府间气候变化委员会报告撰写工作。

Lall教授的研究领域涵盖水文学、气候动力学、应用统计学、水资源系统分析、风险管理和可持续性研究。他非常积极地研究具有挑战性的跨学科问题，通过近年来在哥伦比亚大学水中心的团队研究，在全球水资源可持续发展、全球洪水风险和美国水资源安全三个方面卓有建树。2010年获得美国土木工程师协会的干旱地区水文奖，2014年获得欧洲地球学者联合会亨利·达西奖。他被美国地球物理联合会AGU评为杰出贡献者，曾任上届美国地球物理联合会的自然灾害重点小组的主席。

Upmanu Lall received his Ph.D. (1981) in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas. He is the director of Columbia Water Center, Alan and Carol Silberstein Professor of Earth and Environmental Engineering, and he served as Earth and Environmental Engineering Department chair from 2003 to 2006. His volunteer experience includes: member 4 panels National Academy of Science; member World Economic Forum Global Agenda Council on Water Scarcity, and participant in Global Risk Council deliberations; Contributor to IPCC.He has broad interests in hydrology, climate dynamics, water resource systems analysis, risk management and sustainability. He is motivated by challenging questions at the intersection of these fields, especially where they have relevance to societal outcomes or to the advancement of science towards innovative application. His current research covers 3 major initiatives that are developed through the Columbia Water Center. He received the 2014 Henry Darcy Award from the European Geophysical Union and the 2010 Arid Lands Hydrology Award from the American Society of Civil Engineers. He was the previous President of the Natural Hazards Focus Group of the American Geophysical Union.
